String Art Board Tutorial

I made this for my parents for Christmas, it was a little tricky but worth it!

What you will need:

1. A board - It should be at least 1 1/2 cm thick.
 2. A template with your design,
I used HOME. You can easily find these on Pinterest.
3. A hammer
4. Small nails - I'm not sure on the exact size but they were about 2cm long.
Mine used 322 nails, so be prepared!!
5. Pliers - For holding the nails when you hammer them in, it helps to get all the nails even.
6. Thread - Mine was quite thin, cross-stitch thread would be best.
7. Tape

First of all tape your paper template onto the board on both sides. The template should have dots were the nails should go. I nailed left-right, top-bottom. I used a Melteca board and with that you have to be careful to nail evenly and not split the thin top layer.

This picture is up-side-down but it is clear enough to see the paper and nails.
Once you have finished all the nails carefully peal of the paper. Use tweezers or pliers to get any scraps of paper that have stuck to the nails.

When you start threading make sure you know whether you are threading inside or outside of the nails. I did the inside. If you want to do the outside the nails then you need to do a row of nails around the edge of the board and thread between that and the letter shaped nails.

First thread around around the outside of the letters and then fill the rest in. Go crazy! There is no particular pattern.

Use any colors you want, but it looks better if you use at least 2 colours.

I hope you were able to understand this all right and that maybe it will be helpful if you ever want to do some string art of your own.

Thanks for checking this out!
